Protecting your data matters to us. This page explains what data FoodSnap AI processes, where it is sent and what rights you have. FoodSnap AI does not require a user account.

When you take a photo of a meal or choose an image from your gallery, the photo is resized and sent encrypted (HTTPS) to Google's Gemini API. It is analyzed there to identify the dish and estimate its nutritional values. The result is sent back to the app.
Secure AI scans use a pseudonymous Firebase Authentication ID and Firebase App Check (Play Integrity on Android). Our proxy checks the purchase entitlement through RevenueCat. It stores scan counters and hashed identifiers for abuse protection; images and nutrition results are not stored in this quota database. Request markers and hashed network rate-limit records expire after 24 hours and are deleted by bounded server-side cleanup while the server is running; inactivity or failures may delay deletion further. Daily user counters persist until administrative deletion. Contact us for deletion requests. Photos are processed transiently by the proxy and forwarded to Gemini.
Our proxy hosted on Render temporarily processes photos and forwards them to Google Gemini. Render also processes connection data. Photo recognition uses Gemini exclusively. Hosting information: Render Privacy Policy.
Your meals, photos, goals, profile (e.g. weight, height) and fasting data are stored only locally on your device. We do not operate our own server where this data is stored.
The free version shows ads via Google AdMob. In the process, device identifiers (e.g. the advertising ID), IP address and usage data may be sent to Google. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, we ask for your consent through Google's consent dialog before any ads are loaded; without consent, no ads are loaded. You can change your choice at any time in the app under Settings > Ad settings. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your Android settings. Purchases are processed via Google Play. To verify and restore purchases, we use RevenueCat, Inc. (USA). This involves an anonymous app user ID and purchase information, but no payment details. More information: RevenueCat Privacy Policy.

We do not sell any personal data.
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability, and to withdraw your consent with effect for the future. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
Because your app data is stored only on your device, you can delete it completely at any time yourself: Settings > Apps > FoodSnap AI > Storage > Clear data, or by uninstalling the app.
